Happy New Year and Safe Trails in 2010
As 2009 draws to a close, Birdseye MT ATV Club wishes to express our Thanks and grateful appreciation to Polaris Industries for the Grant in April 2009 to BMAC that resulted in the beautiful ATV trail across the top of Birdseye Mountain.

Also, our appreciation and big Thank you to Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. for the Yamaha OHV Access Initiative Grant in October 2009 that enabled us to enlarge and improve our BMAC/VASA Trail Head.  We plan to have a Grand Opening of the Trail Head in the Spring and it will be "A Place for Friends to Meet".

We thank our Landowners for their support and confidence in us as a responsible VASA ATV club to protect and improve the trails on their lands while being sensitive to the environment.

To all the members of BMAC and VASA, safe and happy trails in the year to come. Some pictures at links.

BMAC/VASA Trail Head Project

Work has begun on enlarging and improving the BMAC Trail Head thanks to the generous grant from Yamaha Motors OHV Initiative.

We now have a bulldozer and excavator and BMAC members started the cutting and clearing of trees in a large area of the original Trail Head on Nov. 30. Our members worked each day and we formed a large work crew on Dec. 5.  We also had the loan of a dump trailer from member and Landowner Ted Sheloski.  The Trail Head has really been opened up and depending on weather conditions the contractor can start the stump removal Friday Dec.11.  If not Friday, then early next week.  After that the contractor will start hauling in the gravel.

We hope to have the enlargement done by the end of the year!

Yamaha OHV Access Initiative Tops $1 Million in GRANTs for Safe, Responsible
OHV Access
OHV Enthusiasts Nationwide Benefit from More Than 100 Yamaha GRANTs in 21
Months

CYPRESS, Calif., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., through
its OHV Access Initiative, has provided more than $1 million in critical
funding into OHV projects across the country. In less than two years, more
than 100 Yamaha GRANTs (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation's
Trails) have been given to local, state and national organizations that are
leading efforts to support safe, responsible OHV riding and sustainable, open
riding areas.

Programs receiving GRANTs historically incorporate projects that directly
impact specific trails, such as trail construction and maintenance, safety
patrols, mapping and trail signage, as well as projects that address OHV usage
on a broader scale -- like educational and land stewardship campaigns and
legislative or legal efforts supporting responsible OHV access to public
lands. GRANT funded projects span the country from New York to California,
Florida to Oregon. A complete list of GRANT recipients can be found at:
www.yamaha-motor.com/ohvaccess.

"Yamaha is leading national and local efforts to promote safe, responsible
riding and open, sustainable riding areas, and reaching this $1 million
milestone is symbolic of our commitment," said Mike Martinez, Yamaha's general
manager of ATV and Side-by-Side Operations. "Together with our GRANT
recipients, we recommit to these efforts each time an approved OHV project is
funded and completed. Through the OHV Access Initiative, Yamaha will continue
to provide vital resources to the OHV community for many years to come."

In this third quarter funding cycle, eight Yamaha GRANTs (Guaranteeing
Responsible Access to our Nation's Trails) were awarded to fund projects that
directly impact the access, safety and sustainability of OHV riding areas
across the country. GRANT recipients for Q3 2009 include:
-- Birdseye Mountain ATV Club, VT
    -- City of Evarts, KY
-- Cle Elum Ranger District, OR
    -- Dubois County Dirt Riders
    -- Off Road Riders Association
    -- Offroad Riders Matter Association
    -- Oregon Dept. of Forestry

    -- Western Slope ATV Association

About the Yamaha OHV Access Initiative
Each quarter, Yamaha accepts applications from non-profit or tax-exempt
organizations including OHV riding clubs, national forests and associations,
and national, state and local government agencies. A committee then reviews
each application and awards GRANTs to deserving projects.

Examples of appropriate projects for GRANTs include, but are not limited to:
-- Trail development, restoration and maintenance
-- Trail signage and map production
-- Staging area construction, renovation and maintenance

-- Land stewardship, trail safety and education

Updated guidelines, an application form and information on the OHV Access
Initiative are available at the newly redesigned web site:

Initiative, call Yamaha's dedicated OHV Access Initiative Hotline at

Gates opened at 10 am and the ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 12 noon.  The ceremony officially opened the VASA ATV trail across the very top of the beautiful Birdseye Mountain range in Castleton Vermont.  This ATV trail was made possible by the generosity of a Polaris Industries grant and landowner Ed Davis of Castleton/Ira.

April 2, 2009

The Officers of Birdseye Mountain ATV Club are very pleased to announce; On April 2, 2009 we received word from the Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S. Committee of Polaris Industries concerning the trail grant request we submitted earlier this year.

BMAC has been selected as a 2009 recipient of a 2009 Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S. grant in the amount of $10,000 to improve Trail #2 up to Betsy's Balcony,  open and develop a new trail up to and across the top of the ridge of beautiful Birdseye Mountain towards the Dome.

This new trail will be called "Polaris Run" in acknowledgement of our grateful appreciation to Polaris Industries for enabling BMAC to further promote the sport of safe family atving.

We hope weather permitting, to have the trail completed for a Grand Opening of Polaris Run and Music on the Mountain, July 18th, 2009.

So make a note on your calendars and watch your email for constant updates.

The Birdseye Mountain ATV Club and the Castleton 1st Responders participated in a mountain rescue practice drill on Birdseye Mountain in Castleton/Ira, Vt.

The volunteer 1st Responders need 48 hours of hands on training per year to maintain their certification.

Joining with Birdseye Mountain ATV Club enabled both organizations to get valuable training experience in a mountain rescue situation.

Both organizations plan to jointly train together in a variety of rescue scenarios.

BMAC encourages communities to actively support their 1st Responders however they can.
